Video Lessons

Each lesson is taught on Youtube! Use it for a flipped classroom, absent students or sub plans!

The average lesson length is 12 minutes. Show What You Know answers are not given in the videos. In each unit there is also a study guide with practice questions to use before giving the unit test.

HOW TO USE IT

I prefer the half page style for printing small and gluing into composition books, but you could also print the full page versions and use packets or binders. I start with the question of the day. Sometimes it is an individual brainstorm question, but I prefer to have my students talk to each other. Then I will spend some time lecturing. I am sure to consistently ask my students questions, or my favorite "turn and teach."

After teaching for 3-5 minutes, students pair up and reteach what they just learned. It's a great way for them to speak or hear the content they've just learned. You'd be surprised how many questions come up!

We then work on Show What You Know questions which are included in every lesson of the bundle. Students will usually go to the board in my room and showcase their learning and "be the teacher" for a bit.

To finish the lesson, students complete the included Quick Practice worksheet.  This is 5-15 questions for additional practice with the topic. I sometimes supplement with additional worksheets or lab activities.

SHOW WHAT YOU KNOW VS. QUICK PRACTICE

Show What You Know

The show what you know questions are printed on to the notes pages, or on the Q-card you give your students if working in interactive notebooks.

The idea is that students answer these questions after you teach them the chemistry content. They may answer them individually or with a partner. When finished, you give them the answers and students self assess.

Students mark these up themselves. They hold on to the questions and the answers. This is study materials they can refer back to

Quick Practice

The Quick Practice is a separate worksheet. You would give this sheet to students for additional practice with the content learned.

This is easily collected and is able to be graded. It can serve as homework, classwork or a quiz. Because students have the Show What You Know questions in their notes, there is no rush to get these papers graded and back to students to use as study material
